COCIV - Radimero Tunnel

MILAN-GENOA High speed railway, TERZO VALICO Project - RADIMERO TUNNEL (9.74 m excavation diameter): in June 2021 the bagging system for the treatment of the material containing asbestos fibers up the threshold was completed. This material is coming from the excavation of the geologically complex "Molare formation". This system completes the set of fittings necessary for the management of potentially asbestos material and it have been entirely conceived, designed, built and installed by our site technicians, with the support of highly specialized external suppliers. This is the first time worldwide that this kind of procedure is applied to TBM excavation.

Algeri Metro Line 1 project - Breakthrough.

On 05 June 2021, at 10.00, after boring a distance of 958.61 meters in very difficult geological conditions, the Kahina TBM did the breakthrough in the Smail Yefsah station, reaching another important milestone in the construction of the Algiers Metro. In total to date, 2.488 meters of tunnel have been excavated and two stations have been crossed for a length of 285 meters. To get El Harrach station, end of the Metro, we have to bore 5.842 meters of tunnel and 788 meters of crossing stations.

COCIV - Radimero tunnel

In the Radimero tunnel project, critical Lot for the construction of the “Terzo Valico Railway line” connecting the cities of Genoa and Milan, it has been launched the second 9,7 m diameter TBM specifically modified to safe operate in rock formations where the presence of asbestos is expected. The launch of this second TBM follows the positive test made with the first TBM utilized in the project, which made it possible to fine-tune the system and and procedures. This is a pilot application in the world for this type of technology.

Algeri Metro Line 1 project - First breakthrough.

SELI Overseas yesterday breakthrough the first station of the Algeri Metro Line 1 project. The 10,5 m CREG TBM over performed in this initial drive. SELI Overseas is continuing in its extraordinary effort to maintain in safe operation all its Projects around the works despite Covid is still hitting hard in most of the countries. A special thank goes to the Company staff and workers that made this first achievement possible. Finally it shall be underlined the efficient cooperation with the Algerian Company Cosider, that is the General Contractor for the entire metro line.

COCIV Serravalle Tunnel - Breakthrough.

SELI Overseas completes the excavation of the first of the Serravalle twin tunnels, a critical section of the Terzo Valico railway project that will connect the city of Genova and its port with Milan and central Europe. To excavate this tunnel the EPB TBM technology has been pushed to the limits and beyond the limits of its usual geological range of application. This has been made possible, in the most critical conditions, thanks to a huge industrial craftsmanship, a skill for which SELI Overseas and its specialists are world famous.

Lonato tunnel - Brescia-Verona high-speed railway line

SELI Overseas signs the Contract with the Concessioner Cepav 2 for the Lonato tunnel, the critical work on the Brescia-Verona high-speed railway line. The contract worth over 200 million euro and foresees the construction of a twin tunnel with a total length of 9,500 m (2 * 4,750) to be excavated with an EPB TBM having a diameter of 10 m. This new contract, together with the 3 other high-speed tunnel contracts that SELI Overseas has in progress for the construction of the Milano-Genova railway line with the Concessioner. strengthens the position of SELI Overseas as the leading specialist company in Italy and in the world in mechanized tunneling.

The tender of CEPAV DUE consortium for the mechanized excavation of the "Lonato Tunnel" has been awarded to Seli Overseas. The tunnel is almost 5 km, the most challenging project of the new High Speed/High Capacity Brescia East-Verona railway line.

The first stage of excavation of Bergen Outfall Tunnel with the TBM in temporary mode (pipe jacking) has been successfully completed by our JV. During the 130m long stretch, the daily production improved to a top performance of 10,5m/day.

Suffolk County naming ceremony of the Mixshield TBM of the JV OHL-POSILLICO-SELI OVERSEAS that will be used to dig the underground tunnel beneath surface of the Great South Bay as part of a $187 million infrastructure project in New York State.

On July 29th SELI Overseas and his JV Partners started the assembly operations of the Mixshield TBM supplied by Herrenknecht for the excavation of the Outfall Replacement Tunnel in Babylon, NY. On the second week of August the TBM will be lowered down in the frozen shaft and the launching operations will start in pipe jacking mode.

SELI Overseas re-started the excavations of the Radimero tunnel with the Herrenknecht TBM S-979. SELI Overseas has at present 4 TBMs in operation for the execution of the tunnels of the “Terzo Valico dei Giovi”, the new railway line connecting the cities of Milano and Genova.

SELI Overseas takes over the 58% of Toto Costruzioni's participation in the Radimero tunnel project (Part of the Milano-Genova High Speed Railway Project) and now control the 100% of this important tunnel contract, having a value of about 183 millions, where n°2 10 m diameter EPB TBMs are utilized.
